BOX SCORE HANOVER, Ind.- The Crusader men's soccer team displayed a solid effort on both offense and defense en route to a 3-0 road victory over Hanover Saturday.
Capital's (5-3-0) assault on Hanover's net included 25 shots, leading to goals by sophomore Daniel McCarthy (Centerville, Ohio/Archbishop Alter HS), junior Ian Warmbrodt (Wadsworth, Ohio/Copley HS), and senior Ryan Cieply (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North HS).
McCarthy got things rolling in the match's 26th minute, scoring his fourth goal of the season after he was assisted by senior Robbie Breen (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington HS), who notched his first helper of the season.
With only three minutes remaining until halftime, Hanover (1-4-0) would not be saved by the bell, as sophomore Cory Trump (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson HS) had his first assist of the season on Warmbrodt's goal in the 43rd minute to put Capital up 2-0 at intermission.
Senior Jason Murry (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville Central HS) also recorded his first helper of the year when he assisted on Cieply's first goal of the year in the 55th minute for the final score of the day.
Capital's defense never rested, limiting Hanover to only nine shots, with only two on goal. Keeper junior Justin Bultman (Maineville, Ohio/King Mills HS) posted the shutout victory.
Capital will now face Mount St. Joseph tomorrow at 10:00am in Cincinnati.
