MEN'S SOCCER ROLLS PAST MOUNT ST. JOSEPH, 3-0

BOX SCORE

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Three first half goals were enough for the Capital men's soccer team to get their fourth straight win of the season, 3-0 over host Mount St. Joseph Sunday. With the victory, the Crusaders (6-3) ended their road trip with a 4-0 mark.

The Crusaders wasted no time Sunday, finding the back the net only three minutes into the contest, as senior Jason Murray (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville Central HS) found senior Steven McCarthy (Centerville, Ohio/Archbishop Alter HS) for his 9th goal of the season for a quick 1-0 advantage.

After scoring his first goal Saturday, senior Ryan Cieply (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North HS) struck again in the 15th minute on Sunday, with Murray getting credit for his second helper of the day and third of the season. It was the second straight day where Murray assisted on a Cieply goal. Senior Jason Rothwell (Vandalia Ohio/ Vandalia-Butler HS) then found McCarthy in the match's 30th minute to stretch the Crusader lead to 3-0. McCarthy notched his team-leading 24th point of the season, while Rothwell netted his first assist of the year.

For the second straight game, Capital enjoyed a sizable shot advantage, as Capital held a 26-5 edge Sunday (including a 12-1 shots on goal advantage). The Crusaders also had 13 corner kicks compared to five for Mount St. Joseph.

Capital now returns home for a 5:00pm match with Wittenberg on Thursday.
