BOX SCORE COLUMBUS, Ohio - Homestanding Capital could not find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss to Thomas More in a non-conference women's soccer matchup on Sunday afternoon at Bernlohr Stadium.
The Crusaders (6-3-1) took 17 shots and forced the Saints' defense into nine saves, but could not break through against the No. 7 ranked team in this week's NSCAA Great Lakes Regional Poll. The loss was the first of the season for CU against a team from the Great Lakes Region (6-1-1).
As an evenly played first half neared the end, Abby Gindling took the ball at the top of the box and passed it left to Christy Green who had only the keeper to beat. Her shot from eight yards out went just under the crossbar for the only score of the game.
Senior Erica Shannon (Whitehall, Ohio/Bishop Hartley HS) made six saves in goal for the Crusaders which held a 17-10 advantage in shots and an 8-4 lead in corner kicks.
Capital remains at home to play host to Manchester on Wednesday in its final non-conference tune up of the season. The match will begin at 4:00 p.m. and fans can follow the action with FREE live stats, video and audio at www.CapitalCrusaders.net.
