BOX SCORE COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Capital women's volleyball team kicked off their OAC season on the right foot, quickly defeating Wilmington in straight sets (25-16, 25-10, 25-14). The Crusaders have now won four straight matches and improved to 10-7 overall on the year.
Senior Allison Hostetler (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton HS) paced CU with 12 kills and a .556 hitting percentage.
Classmate Sara Doebel (Clyde, Ohio/Clyde HS), who became the newest member of Capital's 1,000 Dig Club during last week's win over Denison, led both teams with 12 digs.
Fellow senior Sarah Gallik (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston OH) played a complete match by recording six kills (with a .455 hitting percentage) and three digs.
Classmate Jenna Zumberger (De Graff, Ohio/Fairlawn HS) tied Hostetler for the team lead with two service aces, and also added five defensive digs.
Contributing to the Crusaders defense was freshman Shannon Quinn (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg HS), who was second on the team with six digs.
CU continued its winning ways by displaying a superior hitting advantage. Capital hit .358 for the match and limited Wilmington to .000. The Crusaders also held a 38-27 edge in kills.
The Purple and White have now improved to 5-4 at home this season, and will now head to the IWU Titan Tournament this weekend.
