Barbara Barresi, PhD, RN has joined the School of Management at Capital University where she will teach Business Ethics and Leadership in the traditional and graduate programs. Dr. Barresi also serves as the Director of the community-based Council for Ethical Leadership. Barbara earned her PhD, in Clinical and Organizational Ethics, at The Union Institute, Cincinnati, Ohio, her BA and MA in Philosophy at The Ohio State University. She also completed her Diploma in Nursing at the Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Sandusky, Ohio. Before joining the business faculty at Capital, Dr. Barresi was employed as the Ethicist for Mount Carmel Health System, Columbus, Ohio where she was responsible for the development of a system wide ethics program. She completed numerous ethical consultations and was responsible for conducting due diligences and ethical discernments in clinical and administrative areas. Dr. Barresi has extensive knowledge of business and community healthcare ethical issues. Dr. Barresi teaches general ethical theory, as an Adjunct Professor, within the traditional and Center for Life Long Learning programs at Capital and previously at the Mount Carmel College of Nursing, Columbus, Ohio where she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau the national nursing honor society.
Barbara and her husband, Vincent Barresi, MD, enjoy opera, collecting Inuit art, gardening and traveling.
