CAPITAL ROLLS TO 4-0 WIN AT JOHN CARROLL

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - Visiting Capital scored three second-half goals in a 4-0 Ohio Athletic Conference men's soccer victory at John Carroll on Saturday afternoon.  With its seventh consecutive victory, CU improved to 8-3-0 overall and 1-0-0 in OAC action.

Senior Steven McCarthy (Centerville, Ohio/Archbishop Alter HS) moved himself into second place on the all-time OAC Career Goal Scoring List with a two goal, one assist effort on the day.  Alex Johnson (Kent, Ohio/Kent Roosevelt HS) and Mark Aksel (Gahanna, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln HS) also found the back of the net for Capital off of corner kicks.

McCarthy now has career-high 16 goals and 37 points scored this season.  He now has 61 career goals scored, which is two shy of the OAC record and is tied for fourth place with 138 career points. 

McCarthy got the Crusaders on the board in the first half with an unassisted goal on the 21st minute.  The All-American then continued his offensive display in the 51st minute with a goal off a corner kick by his brother Daniel McCarthy (Centerville, Ohio/Archbishop Alter HS).

Steven McCarthy then setup Johnson just 67 seconds later when Capital used a corner kick to get the ball to McCarthy who fed Johnson for a score and a 3-0 Crusader lead.

CU used another corner kick in the 87th minute for its last score of the afternoon as John Boghossian (London, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson HS) passed it to Aksel for a 4-0 Capital victory.

Justin Bultman (Maineville, Ohio/Kings Mills HS) needed to make just one save for a the Crusaders which remain on the road to face Ohio Northern on Tuesday.
