DOMINATING SECOND HALF LEADS CAPITAL TO 3-1 WIN

BOX SCORE

WILMINGTON, Ohio - Visiting Capital controlled the action throughout the game and overcame an early deficit to post a 3-1 Ohio Athletic Conference men's soccer victory at Wilmington on Wednesday night.

The Crusaders (11-4-0, 3-1-0 OAC), winners in nine of their last 10 matches, held a 24-6 lead in shots on goal throughout the night but fell behind in the 26th minute as the Quakers found the back of the net with a shot just under the crossbar.

Junior Ian Warmbrodt (Wadsworth, Ohio/Copley HS) evened the scoreboard for Capital in the 58th minute when classmate John Boghossian (London, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson HS) crossed the ball just past the keeper and to Warmbrodt who finished the play.

Senior Josh Thaboune (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley HS) gave CU the lead in the 79th minute when he beat the keeper to the far post for an unassisted goal and a 2-1 advantage.

Capital's persistence paid off once again with an insurance goal just 24 seconds before the end of the match.  Junior Jeremy Sampson (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby HS) fed a pass to freshman Alex Johnson (Kent, Ohio/Kent Roosevelt HS) who fired the ball low and to the corner for a 3-1 Crusader victory.

CU returns to action on Saturday as part of a women's-men's doubleheader at OAC rival Marietta.
