AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Seniors
Steven McCarthy and
Allison Hostetler each garnered Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors in their respective sports on Monday.
McCarthy, a forward from Centerville, Ohio, was tabbed as the Men's Soccer Player of the Week after a record setting weekend at Marietta. With one goal and one assist in the Crusaders' 3-0 victory against the Pioneers, McCarthy broke the OAC all-time record for career goals (64) and points (145) scored. The 2007 All-American leads the OAC and ranks among the Top 5 nationally with a career-best 19 goals and 44 points this fall.
Hostetler, a middle blocker from Dalton, Ohio, earned Volleyball Player of the Week recognition for the first time in her career. She led the Crusaders to a win over John Carroll with a season-high 26 kills with no errors, while hitting .578. The senior also added five blocks, seven digs and two aces. Against Heidelberg, Hostetler tallied 10 kills, six digs and four blocks.
The CU men's soccer and volleyball teams will be back in action with road matches on Tuesday. Capital men's soccer head to Baldwin-Wallace for a key OAC match while the volleyball team travels to Marietta. Both contests begin at 7 p.m.
