CRUSADERS SWARM YELLOW JACKETS IN 2-0 WIN

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Goals by seniors Katie Robinson and Natasha Ballard paced the Capital women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over OAC opponent Baldwin Wallace. The Crusaders improved to 10-5-2 overall and 4-2 in league play, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 6-9-2 and 2-5 in the OAC.

In a match where CU dictated the tempo throughout the contest, Robinson (Grove City, Ohio/Bishop Ready HS) scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 38th minute to put the Purple and White ahead 1-0.

The Crusaders continued their assault on the Yellow Jackets' net in the second half, as Ballard (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg HS) produced Capital's insurance goal in the 50th minute with an uncontested shot right in front of the Yellow Jackets' net.

CU's control of the match was highlighted by their 20-0 shot advantage, as well as their five-corner kick opportunities compared to one for Baldwin Wallace. The Crusaders now have a 27-9 corner kick advantage over their last three matches.

Posting her fifth shutout of the season was junior keeper Linley Vermillion (Englewood, Ohio/ Northmont HS), who improved her record as a starter this season to 4-3-1.

Capital improved their record at home this season at 4-3-1, and also improved to 10-1-1 when scoring the match's first goal.

The Purple and White will host Mount Union at 1 p.m. in an OAC matchup on Senior Day this Saturday.
