BOX SCORE COLUMBUS, Ohio- Two first half goals by senior Katie Robinson and another by junior Kaylee Phillips propelled the Capital women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Mount Union on senior day.
The Crusaders, who have now won three straight matches, advanced to 11-5 on the season overall and 5-2 in the OAC, while the Purple Raiders dropped to 4-12-1 and 1-6 in league play.
Robinson (Grove City, Ohio/Bishop Ready HS) registered a goal for the third straight match, as her team-leading sixth goal of the season came in the match's 10th minute on a shot from the top of the box.
Phillips (Watkins, Ohio/Watkins Memorial HS) scored for the third time in the last four matches by recording a goal after the ball rebounded off a Mount Union defender near the net for a 2-0 Capital lead in the match's 27th minute.
The duo of Robinson and Phillips struck once more in the 34th minute, when Phillips' corner kick found Robinson for an insurance goal and a 3-0 CU advantage heading into halftime.
Robinson now paces Capital with 15 points and seven goals, while Phillips is second on the team in points with 10.
Senior keeper Erica Shannon (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City HS) stopped four shots to improve to 3-1 as a starter this season.
CU outshot Mount Union 17-8, and attempted four corner kicks compared to one for the Purple Raiders.
The Crusaders, who are now 11-1-1 when scoring the first goal of the match, improved to 5-3-1 at home this season.
Capital will travel to Heidelberg for an OAC showdown on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
