AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Senior setter
Jenna Zumberger was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday following the final week of the 2009 regular season.
Zumberger, a native of DeGraff, Ohio, became the first setter in Capital history to record 3,000 assists and 1,000 digs in a career last Tuesday during the Crusaders' match at Muskingum. The CoSIDA Academic All-District nominee dished out 39 assists and collected 15 digs on the evening while posting a match-high five service aces.
Zumberger now has the second most career assists in CU history with 3,046 to go along with 1,045 career digs and the third most service aces at 152. Her 1,061 assists this season mark just the fifth time in Crusader history that a setter has tallied more than 1,000 in a single-season and are only 45 shy of the third most in CU history. Zumberger is also only 12 service aces shy of the fifth most in Capital single-season history.
The fifth-seeded Crusader volleyball team (16-14, 5-4 OAC) will begin play in the OAC Tournament with a Quarterfinal Match on Tuesday at fourth-seeded Otterbein. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and fans can follow the action with FREE Live Audio at http://www.capitalcrusaders.net/ as well as Twitter updates at www.twitter.com/CAPCRU.
