A Few Thoughts for Parents of Prospective Capital Students
Take a deep breath.
It's a big step, sending your teenager off to college. You know he's ready for more responsibility, but you also know he's got a lot of growing to do. How can you be sure he'll get the support he needs?
At Capital, we understand your concerns, and we're here to set your minds at ease. Our people reach out to students and parents in ways that are unheard of at large, impersonal universities.
Capital's smaller size creates a sense of camaraderie that infuses all aspects of campus life. Students and professors know each other by name and interact daily both inside and outside the classroom. Students and staff strike up casual conversations, and many form friendships that endure long after the students graduate. Resident Assistants (specially trained older students who live on each residence hall floor) are always available to help your student with personal, social or discipline issues.
We are constantly thinking of ways to make the Capital experience easier, more affordable and more rewarding. Read on to learn how.

Easing the Transition for You and Your Student
Before Classes Begin
It's official: your student is about to enter our newest freshman class. But what will those first few months be like?
We know you're curious, and maybe even a little anxious. So we've designed our summer New Student Orientation Program to make sure both you and your student know what's in store.
Throughout the College Years
While your student is away, staying close as a family will be more important than ever. And at Capital, we know that takes more than just phone calls and e-mails. Surprise him with a care package or with a birthday cake baked by our dining services. And visit as often as you can. He'll treasure his new-found independence ... but chances are, he'll be eager to invite you into his world.
Our Kids & Sibs Program is a great way for students to share quality time with their younger brothers and sisters. Watch this page for additional event listings designed just for parents.

Creating a Safe Place for Living and Learning
Capital is a small, close-knit community. People look out for each other. And as a university, we take many precautions to be sure that your students and their belongings are safe.
Five full-time, fully commissioned police officers take turns patrolling our 44-acre campus 24 hours a day, observing campus activity and serving as student escorts to and from campus parking lots and buildings. Whenever necessary, our Public Safety Office can also call on the resources of the Bexley Police Department.
We're here to answer your questions and concerns about safety at Capital University. So please don't hesitate to contact us.
