Capital softball junior Stephanie Peterson has already had a well-traveled college career. Sports information assistant Bryan DeArdo talked with Peterson about her transition from Toledo to Capital, playing baseball with the boys growing up, and how her coaches have inspired her on and off the diamond.

Capital Softball senior Brittany Stefano has nearly re-written the school’s pitching record book, including holding the school’s all-time strikeout record. Capital sports information assistant Bryan DeArdo talked with Stefano about Capital’s competition in the conference, the team’s in-game chants and her favorite sandwich at Cosi.
KEITCH PICKS UP ANOTHER ACADEMIC HONOR
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Capital University senior softball player Kaleen Keitch picked up Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Academic All-Conference Honorable Mention Honors on Tuesday following a vote conducted amongst the OAC’s faculty athletics representatives.

Capital University senior softball player Kaleen Keitch was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Second Team on Thursday following a vote conducted amongst the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
SOFTBALL PAIR EARNS ALL-OAC RECOGNITION
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Capital University softball duo of Christa Alvich and Sarah Finkel were rewarded for their solid play this season by being listed on the All-OAC teams, which were released on Sunday evening. Alvich was a First Team pick at Designated Player while Finkel was an honorable mention selection as an outfielder.

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital softball team closed out the regular season with a doubleheader split at Ohio Athletic Conference rival Otterbein on Saturday. CU won the opener, 4-3, before dropping the finale, 5-3.
SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH MARIETTA IN OAC ACTION
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital split the final home softball doubleheader of the season on Thursday with Marietta at Clowson Field. The Crusaders took the opener, 3-2 before falling in the nightcap, 6-2.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Homestanding Capital had a pair of late-inning rallies come up short as it was swept by #12 Ohio Northern by scores of 8-4 and 5-2 in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday at Clowson Field.

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Visiting Capital saw its hopes to advance to the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Tournament take a hit on Friday as it was swept in a doubleheader at John Carroll. CU lost game one, 3-0, and game two by a score of 2-0.

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Visiting Capital started a busy three days of softball on a high note with a non-conference sweep of Mount St. Joseph on Thursday. CU won the opener, 2-1, in eight innings before taking the finale, 8-2.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Homestanding Capital used a pair of big offensive performances to move itself into sole possession of fifth place in the Ohio Athletic Conference softball standings with a sweep of Heidelberg on Saturday at Clowson Field. CU won the opener, 7-0, and took the finale, 6-2.

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Capital snapped a four-game losing streak and pulled itself back into the Ohio Athletic Conference softball playoff picture with a sweep at Mount Union on Wednesday afternoon. CU took the opener, 5-3, before holding on for a 4-3 victory in the finale.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital let an early-lead get away in the opener and then was shutout in the finale of an Ohio Athletic Conference softball doubleheader with Baldwin-Wallace on Saturday at Clowson Field. The Yellow Jackets beat the Crusaders 3-2 in game one and 5-0 in game two.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Homestanding Capital could not manage enough offense to stay with Ohio Athletic Conference rival Muskingum as it lost a pair of softball games Wednesday afternoon at Clowson Field. MC took the first game, 7-3, and the second by a score of 6-0.
SOFTBALL SWEEPS OAC OPENER AT WILMINGTON
WILMINGTON, Ohio – After a 48-hour delay due to rain, Capital swept both ends of a Ohio Athletic Conference softball doubleheader at Wilmington on Monday by scores of 6-1 and 7-3. With the wins, CU improved to 12-6 overall and 2-0 in OAC action.
SOFTBALL SPLITS HOME OPENING DOUBLEHEADER WITH TRANSYLVANIA
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital settled for a split in a non-conference softball doubleheader on Tuesday in opening day of play this season at Clowson Field. The Crusaders won 2-0 in the first game before falling 11-6 in the finale to take their record to 10-6 on the season.
SOFTBALL HAS 3-1 WEEKEND AT SU INVITATIONAL
SALISBURY, Md. – The Capital University softball team posted an impressive 3-1 record at the Salisbury State Invitational this weekend. CU swept SUNY Geneseo (3-1) and TCNJ (3-2) on Friday. The Crusaders then beat SUNY Plattsburgh (2-0) on Saturday before falling in the final inning to #23 Ithaca (1-3).
SOFTBALL TAKES TWO ON OPENING DAY
CLERMONT, Fla. – The Capital softball team started off the 2009 season with a pair of victories on Monday. CU beat Hanover, 6-0 in the opener before outlasting Davenport, 5-4 in an eight-inning contest to close out the day.
