My goodness! Once again, it seems as though it's been so long since I've written. Capital has a brand new website and it took me a while to figure things out. But don't worry, I think I've got the hang of it now! Here's the latest...
It's getting really cold and walking to class has become a challenge! One minute it's crystal clear, and the next...there's snow! But that can only mean one thing...it's almost time for Christmas! There's so much going on around campus! MDR looks festive with wreaths and lights, and the girls in S.S. have decorations galore! Each year my mom and I have always spent time decorating our tree, but since I'm staying on campus now, she bought my roommate and I a Christmas tree of our own! Needless to say, it's miniature, but I love it just the same! She also let me borrow our Nutcracker from home. It's nice to walk in the room and see decorations that look familiar. We have Rudolph on the door and a box full of candy canes too! So feel free to stop by if you need some Christmas cheer!
Speaking of candy canes and Christmas cheer, this year the S.S. Hall Council decided to sell candy-grams! I had a lot of fun helping to put the fundraiser together. It reminded me of the types of things we did in high school as class officers. At first the sales were slow, but my new boyfriend Rob, who played football for Capital and has been begging me to write about him, made a lot of his teammates buy candy canes from me! LOL..What a sweetheart! We're going to deliver them this week...hopefully someone sent me one!
Aside from all of that, our floor has decided to reach out. This Christmas season, we're making thank you cards for our wonderful cleaning staff and we're also going caroling at a nearby nursing home. Giving gifts like these to others means so very much to me. As a senior in high school, I was involved in community service and as a class we adopted an orphan for Christmas. I was so concerned that I'd miss out on community service in college, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it is a priority at Capital. In addition to all that we as a floor have decided to do, there are numerous other organizations who are giving back to the community as well.
That pretty much wraps this entry up! I'll update again soon!
