Ray Eubanks is professor of Music Business and Music Literature. He designed and implemented the Conservatory's Jazz and Music Industry Programs and taught trumpet for over 25 years.
In addition, he was the founder and executive director of The Jazz Arts Group of Columbus (JAG) and conductor of its principal ensemble, The Columbus Jazz Orchestra, for 30 years. During his tenure, the orchestra performed with the greatest names in the history of American music, including Benny Carter, Tony Bennett, Clark Terry, Tito Puente, James Moody, Amad Jamal, Ramsey Lewis, Joe Williams, The Brecker Brothers and a host of others (see www.columbusjazzorchestra.com).
Eubanks has produced corporate shows for The Memorial Golf Tournament, Compuserve Corp., Krogers, Nationwide Insurance and United Way of Franklin County, featuring such well-known stars as Jeff Foxworthy, The Charlie Daniels Band, The Gatlin Brothers, Kool and the Gang, Penn and Teller, Aretha Franklin and Margaret Chu.
He has also appeared as a guest conductor with The Columbus Symphony, Ballet Metropolitan of Columbus, Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra, The Springfield Symphony and the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.
As a professional trumpet player, he toured with Doc Severinsen, The Temptations, Paul Anka and Peggy Lee. He has also performed with such notables as Bob Hope, Della Reese, Henry Mancini, Bob Newhart, Lisa Minnelli, The Four Tops and many others.
Eubanks is the recipient of awards of excellence from two governors, three mayors, the City Council of Columbus, The House of Representatives and Senate of the State of Ohio.
