Ways You Can Study Abroad

As a Capital University student, you have an impressive array of programs, countries and topics of study to choose from.

Exchange Programs

Capital University has exchange programs with several foreign universities, including:

  • The Carl Maria von Weber Hochschule Fur Musik in Dresden, Germany (music)**
  • Mälardalen University in Västerås, Sweden (nursing)*
  • The University of Essex in Colchester, England (nursing)*

*No foreign language requirement.
**German language requirement.

Capital University is a member of several college consortia, and our students enjoy discounted rates on the study abroad programs they offer. These consortia include:

  • College Consortium for International Studies (CCIS)
  • Association of New American Colleges Study Abroad (ANACSA)*
  • Central College Abroad
  • American Institute for Foreign Studies
  • Australearn

*Capital’s Music Program in Hungary is a featured program for the Association of New American Colleges Study Abroad (ANACSA)

Capital students can participated in programs sponsored by:

  • Intercontinental Recruitment and Support Services (IRSS)
  • Arcadia University
  • International Studies Association (ISA) - known for strong Spanish language programs
  • Institute for Study Abroad - offered through Butler University

Can’t spare much time but still want the study-abroad experience? Every year, Capital faculty members lead students on short overseas programs related to their areas of study. Offerings change from year to year. To learn what short programs are available this year, contact the academic department(s) you’re interested in.

You may also apply for direct enrollment at a foreign institution or for other selected programs. Contact the Study Abroad Department for more information.

Whichever program you choose, make sure that it:

  • Meets the academic and cultural objectives you outlined in your Overseas Study Goal Statement Worksheet
  • Offers enough support at the program site to handle any problems that arise
  • Has a strong safety record
  • Meets accreditation standards so you know you’re earning university-level credit
