Digital recording equipment. Synthesizers and software. MP-3s and Web radio.
Technology is making the music industry more fast-paced, creative and exciting than ever. It's happening in cities across the country, not just in New York and L.A. With a music technology degree from Capital, you can be a part of the scene.
Listen to music composed, performed, sequenced, mixed and/or recorded by Music Tech students.
What Makes Our Music Technology Program Special
We have our own fully equipped recording studio on campus. Even if you don't have live musicians in the studio you'll never run low on cool sounds to record, thanks to our large collection of synthesizers and other electronic instruments. And if you get the urge to play rather than record, you can join Capital's high-tech MIDI Band.

Capital is the only school that has an official relationship with The Recording Workshop, a highly respected school of audio and music production. People come from all over the country to study at The Recording Workshop, but Capital is the only academic institution that grants students credit for doing so.

In an eight-week program at the Chillicothe-based Recording Workshop, you'll get intensive hands-on training from industry professionals in six specialized recording studios. You'll use the latest equipment and gain exposure to all areas of audio technology. Read more about the Recording Workshop experience.
Degree Options
You don't have to be a formally trained, performing musician to enter this field. There are two different degrees within Capital's music technology major that teach the same skills and share the same core curriculum. Just choose the music technology degree that best reflects your interests, and get ready for an eye-opening experience.
Capital Students: Making Their Mark in the Music Industry
Although music technology is a relatively new major, Capital has a long history of preparing students for careers in the music business. Capital graduates have created their own businesses, like Horse-Drawn Productions, and landed jobs at a wide range of companies.
