Remember my last post about time management? Well, I'm trying my best at preventing a stressed-out week before it begins. Ladies and gentlemen- It's Saturday night and I'm.....writing papers. According toElton John, "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" Somehow I think the song wouldn't have been as huge of a hit if it spoke of procrastinated homework on a Saturday night-- but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I should run my idea by people in my building....oh wait. No one else is around on a Saturday night. Perhaps they're out fighting. Guess it's just me and my Cultural Pluralism reaction paper....and I doubt it wants to hear my musings on Elton John.
My Capital life has continued to be a day in and day out collegiate adventure. The past two weeks have been Spring Recruitment for Greek Life (soroities and fraternities) here on campus. This week concludes parties (I've gone to them three nights in a row each week) and by Friday I may very well be part of Capital's Greek community!
Wednesday night I became a recording star. By recording I mean a Blues Project assigned in my Rock and Roll History class; and by star I mean singing lyrics over top of my friend Alex's guitar riffs as my other friend Austin recorded. I can't leave Alex S. out....he contributed with background vocals. Music majors are my heroes. I miss band and choir. You know what else is my hero? Rock and Roll History class. It's the reason I get out of bed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Anyone can take it and I suggest they should. This recent assignment puts us in the shoes of blues.....as we create our own ditty using the 12-bar blues structure. Gosh I love this class. To quote the Rolling Stones "I know- it's only Rock and Roll but I like it, love it- yes I do."
Thursday night also brought a handful of students congregating in a dorm room. This time it was members of my Intro to Theatre class. We gathered to watch Hamlet starring Mel Gibson. The tape had a very loud and piercing tracking noise...so that viewing partay didn't last long. It's OK Bexley Public Library....I still have got nothing but love for you.
That brings me to today. I guess I'm doing all this procrastinated stuff NOW because well...I was procrastinating all this afternoon. Along with putting on my Mayor Marta hat and playing Sim City, we watched The Muppet Show, Tales Spin AND Berenstain Bears on video. I told you I have nothing but love for Bexley Public Library and their Audio-Visual department. You know who I DON'T have love for?? The Cedar Point folks who pulled the plug on my childhood dreamland, Berenstain Bear Land, and in turn replaced it with a Snoopy gift shop. Good thing I have Mama, Papa, Sister and Brother on video. How dare you, Cedar Point.
I think I'm at a point of rambling and talking beyond return about stuff people don't care about. Yep. I could sense it. Too much?? I'm sorry.
You all have a good Super Bowl Sunday. I will not rub anything in anyone's face....but I will end in saying that this is the first weekend I WISH I was in Pittsburgh. Here we go, Steelers, here we go- All the way in the Super Bowl.
Come back soon!
