Mark Andrew Baker is an Associate Professor of Voice and the Director of Opera/Musical Theater. As an educator, Professor Baker has taught studio voice for over 18 years.
In his professional career, Mr. Baker has already performed over sixty leading roles with opera companies across the country. Recently, he has received critical acclaim for his work as Figaro in Opera Columbus’ New production of The Barber of Seville and as Dr. Engle in the The Student Prince. Mr. Baker Also traveled to Baltimore to perform with the Baltimore Symphony as a featured soloist in the 100th gala performance of African Portraits- sharing the stage with Bill Cosby, James Earl Jones, and Montel Williams.
Opera Columbus recently honored Mr. Baker as the Artist Of The Year. He is the inaugural recipient of this new honor, given to the artist deemed to have had the greatest positive impact on the quality of the operatic arts in Central Ohio.
Additional professional credits include The Santa Fe Opera, The Atlanta Opera, Lake George Opera, The Toledo Opera, The Nashville Opera, The Baltimore Symphony, The Colorado Symphony, The Firesides Symphony, The Ashland Opera, The Central City Opera, and sixteen seasons as a favorite leading man with The Columbus Light Opera.
