Stan Smith teaches Jazz Guitar, Jazz Composition, and Music Appreciation and is Coordinator of the Conservatory Jazz Combo program and is currently on the staff of the National Summer Guitar Workshop. Smith received a Diploma in Instrumental Performance from Berklee College of Music and a BM in Jazz Studies from Capital University. As a guitarist, he was a member of the Moacir Santos Band in Los Angeles and, as a band leader in Columbus, has accompanied various artists such as Ernie Watts and David Amram as well as performing in clubs, concerts and festivals. Smith is also the guitarist for the Columbus Symphony Pops Concerts and pit orchestras for Broadway Series Productions and various concert artists. As a composer he has received Fellowship Awards from the Ohio Arts Council. Smith's compositions have been performed internationally and recorded by the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, Spectrum and Nova Madrugada.
