Eric Paton, percussion instructor, has performed with such artists as Carmen Cavallaro, Maureen McGovern, Eddie Daniels, and Bernadette Peters. In addition, he has toured with the Guy Lombardo Orchestra, the Italian National Opera Company's production for La Boheme, and has performed with the Wonde African Dance Company of Liberia. He currently is a member of Spectrum, Arnett Howard's Creole Funk Band, and does extensive free-lancing with several local and regional jazz ensembles.
A specialist in the area of ethnic percussion, his former teachers include Inomata Takeshi Sensei of Japan, Leonard Moses of Trinidad, Afro-Cuban/Haitian drummer John Amira, E. KaikPai Paasewe of Liberia, Raymon Sylla of Senegal, and Richie Garcia of Puerto Rico.
He also serves as a consultant, providing historical details of African music and instruments of the Carribean.
