It's Wednesday!

I don't know the traditions of other residence halls, but here in S.S., the third floor girls have declared every Wednesday a day of celebration! Why, you ask? Because it's the middle of the week! "Hump Day" is what we like to call it.

I must say, this "Hump Day" has been quite eventful. I've been up and running since 8 a.m.! First, I started with Algebra and more logarithms than one could imagine! After class, I came back and went to sleep. I advise those of you who are in the process of scheduling classes for the Fall Semester to give yourselves time in between them for rest and relaxation! Go to breakfast...check facebook...catch up on sleep you didn't get the night before...there are lots of things to do! Breaks in between classes are made for adventure! Later, I went to Global Awareness for a presentation on Iran. I don't know if I told you, but my group did win The India Game! Yes, that's right...we were placed in control of a government. The entire process was so exciting, and I truly learned a lot. I had an additional break for lunch, but I decided not to go because I wasn't feeling well, and I didn't want much to eat. I think there's something going around campus because of the change in season. One minute it's close to 60 outside, and the next we wake up to snow! I never know what to expect in the mornings when I move my car! Finally, I went to Spanish and played Jeopardy as a review game. Once again, my group won! I think I'm on a roll! We weren't given a government, but the Reese's cups sufficed. Spanish was my last class of the day. You'd think I'd head back to the dorm! But, I had other things to take care of before I could toss my books.

I'm in the process of changing my major from Psychology to Social Work, and there was a great deal of paperwork that I had to get filled out today. Initially, I planned to keep my major in Psychology and meet with an advisor to discuss a minor in Social Work. However, upon talking with her, I came to the realization that Social Work will serve as a much better major for me! The advisor even gave me one of her personal books to read. It's filled with information about Social Work career options. I can still do counseling, which was the goal I'd planned to achieve. However, I learned that, through Social Work, I can do that independently with just a Master's degree. This will be a much more expedient process for me. I also feel that I'll enjoy working within the Social Work setting. I have a deep concern for helping the less fortunate. I want to become a counselor for troubled families, and/or teens. I also like the opportunities for internships through Social Work. Field training at an establishment such as The Huckleberry House would truly mean the world to me. I would feel such a sense of accomplishment. I'm so excited about the new change! My current advisor has been so understanding. I'm going to minor in Psychology instead. One day, I plan to go back and get a Doctorate level degree. But until then, I feel comfortable knowing that I'll be able to use my BSW immediately after I graduate.

Aside from all of that, this week I've had some fun! (Not that learning more about my new major hasn't been!) The girls down the hall invited my roomie and I to a party. It wasn't just any old party...it was MARY KAY! Yes, you heard correctly! A make-up session in the dorms! The girls and I had fun, and I hope to do it again. We raided the bathroom for a Satin Handcare Session, then headed back into a triple with plenty of space for makeovers! Every girl should have a Mary Kay party in her room.

I also took a trip with my roomie to Graeter's this afternoon. It was our first walk since the Winter season ended. Today was so beautiful, I had to take advantage of it. Besides, I didn't eat anything for lunch...remember?!

Well, that's my update. I'll write more again soon. I'm going to my first Arena Football Game in a few weeks! Also, we have another break coming up for Easter...I really love life at Cap! I hope things are going well for everyone else here. The year is winding down, and soon I'll be a sophomore. I've already done my schedule, and if things go well, Mondays and Wednesdays I'll only have one class; it starts at 12, and Fridays I won't have any classes at all! Hurray! Tuesdays and Thursdays will be a different story, but hey...college isn't all about fun and play!
