Instrumental Emphasis

Our instrumental emphasis is a practical approach to an advanced degree. This three-summer program has been carefully designed to meet the educational needs of instrumental music teachers.

Kodály Emphasis

The Kodály Institute at Capital was established in 1980 and is one of the few schools in the United States to offer a choice of study for either elementary or secondary choral music educators.  This certificate and degree program offers three sequential levels of coursework in musicianship, folksong/material research, methodology, and conducting.  Students also sing in choir and participate in chamber music.  Coursework may be completed in a minimum of three summers.

Jazz Pedagogy Emphasis

Beginning summer 2008, the Jazz Pedagogy emphasis summers-only program will give you the opportunity to interact with some of today’s finest jazz educators and to enhance and enrich your teaching career. A new instructional model for contemporary educators, these courses have been carefully designed to meet the educational needs of music teachers.
