Dr. Denvy A. Bowman was named the 15th president of Capital University in March 2007.
Named interim president in 2006, Bowman provided strong leadership to the entire university and garnered the trust and respect of students, his colleagues on the faculty, his fellow members of the President's Cabinet and the Board of Trustees.
Bowman also served as Capital's provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, the unanimous choice of the search committee following a national search. He initially joined Capital in the summer of 2003, again as the result of a national search, as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
A lifelong Lutheran, Bowman has a doctorate in ancient history from the University of North Carolina; a master's degree in ancient history from the University of Virginia, and a bachelor's degree in history from Roanoke College.
