The quality of Capital's nursing programs is well-known in Central Ohio. We have been selected by OhioHealth as its school of choice for employees seeking to expand their nursing education.
An experienced nursing faculty is the backbone of Capital's BSN-Completion Program. Our professors include:
- Jane Hutcheson (Foundations and Contemporary Issues for RNs) has taught in bachelor's degree completion programs for more than 15 years. She recently joined Capital as director of the BSN-Completion Program.
Dr. Rita Kerr (Nursing Research for RNs), who specializes in the area of grief and has been a visiting professor in Sweden through a faculty exchange with Mälardalens University.
Dr. Cora Muñoz (Nursing in a Multicultural Society), a nationally known expert on multicultural health care.
Sharon Parker (Leadership and Management for RNs), who has played a highly active role in the leadership of several professional nursing organizations.
Debbie Shields (Health Assessment for RNs; Complementary and Alternative Healing Methods), who is regionally known for her expertise in the use of therapeutic touch. She is an expert clinician and continues to practice in acute care.
Marsha Swinehart (Nursing of Families and Communities for RNs), who spent more than 20 years as a public health nurse at the Ross County Health Department.
Our professors are more than just seasoned nurses. They're committed educators who understand the needs of adult students. Here's what two of our students said:
"Faculty feedback, support and assistance in writing papers were exceptional and helped me tremendously."
"I especially appreciated the care and concern that each instructor has shown me."
