Academic Support

It may have been a while since you've set foot in a classroom. But at Capital, you'll find the support you need to fit school into your schedule and become a successful student.

Once you're admitted into our BSN-Completion Program, you'll meet with your adviser to plan what courses you'll need to take. She will guide you through the program by:

  • Being your contact person for questions about the program
  • Recommending an appropriate sequence of classes
  • Alerting you to courses you can test out of
  • Helping you make sure you meet Capital's 30 hours of residency requirements
  • Showing you how to complete certain administrative tasks online, including checking your academic status and grades and enrolling for courses

Your adviser isn't your only resource for academic success. You can also take advantage of periodic free workshops designed especially for adult students. These include:

Writing Workshop

Our writing workshop was designed to help you refresh the language and learning skills you already have … and maybe pick up a few new ones. You will learn to:

  • Search nursing literature for relevant information
  • Synthesize the information you read
  • Avoid common writing errors
  • Analyze writing samples
  • Learn about online writing resources

We offer our writing workshop in both traditional and online formats.

Library Workshop

This workshop will help you get the most from Capital's online learning resources, including:

We also offer an online course that will help you learn to write and develop PowerPoint slides, two skills that are crucial for success in this program.
