The Chemistry Department at Capital University combines student-centered classes, broad-based laboratory instruction and opportunities for research and internships into a comprehensive chemistry education for our students. The chemistry program is approved by the American Chemical Society. This recognition assures the highest standards in chemistry instruction and is held by only 20% of chemistry programs nationally. We prepare our students to pursue careers in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, high school teaching, forensics and the chemical industry. Our alumni are also well equipped to continue their education in graduate school or medical professions.
The department offers majors in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry(Pre-Med), Chemistry with Education Licensure, a 3/2 Chemical Engineering Degree and an A.C.S.-Certified Chemistry Degree. There are six full time faculty in the department with a wide range of training and areas of expertise. We offer a complete chemistry curriculum during the academic year, and accelerated courses through the Summer Institute in Science and Mathematics at Capital University. The department has well-equipped laboratories and modern instrumentation for instruction and research.
