Check List for Incoming Students

Congratulations on your acceptance. Use this checklist to help you through the enrollment process.

___ Visit Capital
Make the trek and visit campus. We offer several group visits and personalized visit days. For more information go to www.capital.edu/rsvp.

___ Receive Merit Scholarships and Grants
Beginning in December, all accepted students will be notified of scholarship eligibility. If you are a music student your scholarship letter will be sent to you after your audition. Capital also offers four competitive scholarships programs for select first-year students. You will be mailed an invitation if you meet the eligibility requirements of a competitive competition. The Collegiate Fellowship invites participants with at least a 28 ACT composite or an 1250 SAT verbal/math total. The Capital Scholars is designated for multicultural students with at least a 3.0 gpa and 20 ACT. The Battelle Scholarship invites competitors from Franklin and contiguous counties with at least a 3.4 gpa and 22 ACT. The Brockman Fellowship is awarded to a math or computer science that competes at the Collegiate Fellowship competition. The eligibility deadline for each competitive scholarships is December 1. Contact the Admission Office for more information on these programs.

___ Submit the FAFSA
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is your key to Capital University, state and federal money.  Capital's financial aid code is 003023

___ Review Financial Aid
Financial aid awards will be mailed and available online for review. Your admission counselor will explain payment options and notify you of Student Account deadlines.

___ Admission and Enrollment Deposit
To reserve your spot in the entering class, you must submit a $300 deposit to live on-campus ($200 deposit if you are commuting) no later than May 1. This payment is refundable upon written request until May 1, and is applied towards your annual fee. Upon written request you may be granted an extension of your deposit until May 1st. An extension will not jeopardize your status for admission or financial aid. Due to program size, deposits are accepted on a space available basis. Students submitting their enrollment deposit after space is filled will be placed on a waitlist. Waitlisted students cannot be guaranteed a space. Pay the enrollment deposit online or mail it to:

___ Complete Forms
Upon receipt of your deposit a letter will be mailed to you in spring 2010 with information regarding important documents that need to be completed. You will need to complete
the following forms:

  • Commuter students need to print and complete the Housing Requirement Release Request Form;
  • Resident students will need to complete the Online Housing Application (Housing assignments will be made in late summer once all housing forms are completed on a space-available basis);
  • All students need to print and complete the New Student Health Forms Packet (no one can attend classes in the fall without the forms and updated immunizations);
  • All students need to print and return the Student Emergency Contact Information Form to the Student Affairs Office.

___ Select an Orientation Date
Students and family members are invited to attend Orientation. Registration will open in the spring.

___ Final high school transcript  
Please have your high school forward your final high school transcript reflecting your graduation date.

___ Advanced Placement Tests/College Courses  
Have official results of your advanced placement tests and official transcripts of college classes mailed to Capital.
