Whether it’s working with the media to tell an important story, guiding corporations in their outreach to communities or helping roll out a new product or brand, the career possibilities for Capital’s public relations majors are diverse and exciting.
A Customized Education
The field of public relations is just about as diversified as the media outlets it serves. So you’ll study a broad range of subjects, from cultural pluralism in American society to TV production and broadcasting.
We’ve also designed our program to allow you to study areas of particular interest, like account management, writing and design.
You’ll learn from highly qualified professors who have both academic and practical experience in the field. Two even serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Public Relations Research. And our public relations major program is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America.
Build Your Portfolio
At Capital you’re sure to develop a strong academic and ethical background, but it’s your portfolio that will land you that first job. So we’ll give you plenty of chances to develop a great one. You might:
- Build your writing skills and clip file by working on the staff of The Chimes
- Intern with the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation
- Conduct research in the Bexley community
- Mock up a new campaign for Bob Evans
- Create a PR event for a local non-profit through the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA)
