Ain't No Use In Stressin', Sista

OK. I realize that the title of this Blog was very rap-artist of me, but I mean it with my whole heart....really.

I also realize that it's been awhile since I've shown my sophomore-face around these here parts.  I'd like to consider it a friendly gesture to all our new first-year bloggers- ya know- to give them a chance for Capital homepage stardom.

But I've had enough of being nice- I'm coming back blog-a-blazin'.  I've been a very busy girl.  Miss Overinvolvement has met Miss Overscheduled this semester.  19-hours.  For those of you who might not speak the college lingo to put it simply, I left my room at 9am and didn't come back until 8pm.  Yeah- pretty stressful times for M.S.D.  However, I've promised myself to forge ahead and fight this ridiculous battle.
Without further adieu, I will now present "Marta's Top Ten Ways to Relieve (Or At Least Forget About) Stress"

While it is a Top Ten list, they are in no particular order.  If you saw what my desk and room looks like- you'd understand the unorderly pun.

10. Break Out Into Random Dance Parties- If that blank Microsoft Word document is getting you down, it may be best just to minimize and pull up the ITunes.  It really doesn't matter what you choose, as long as you're turnin up the volume and shakin' it. You can get the crowd really goin' if you bust a move in the hallway. For a REALLY good time, make people who come to visit break out into a dance (of your choice) and let the good times role.  (Mario's Pick... N.E.R.D)

9. Show Some Love for Your Great Friends!-  I definately would not be geting through this semester if it weren't for the amazing people that surround me.  From my UP pals, to my hall-girls, to my lovely ladies in green to my "churchies" and everyone else in between, I can get by with a little help from my friends!!

8. CALL YOUR MOMMY!-  I don't care what people say, I love calling my mommy! (and daddy, sister etc.)  It's real awesome just to put your life into perspective from someone on the "outside".  While my mom in particular sometimes says stuff I don't want to hear, I need to hear it..for for that reason- my stress is calmed!  LOVE you!!!

7. Eat Something Bad for You- So this might just ADD to stress at times, but sometimes a girl just needs some chocolate.  And by chocolate I mean an Oreo Cookie Treasure ice cream cone from the dining hall.  While you may blame it as you try sucking into your freshly washed jeans, it's not it's fault.  In the end, its approx. 13 minutes of comfort, and thats 13-less minutes of me wishing I was eating desserts.

6. WORKOUT!- OK, ok. Of course this has to come after my main-man, O.C.T. (oreo cookie treasure). Sadly, this week's schedule has knocked of my 10-11 MWF workout, but I WILL get back to the peddlin'...cause I really do feel good after its over and done.

5. Do Something Spontaneous- Marta and Alesha's Spontaneous event of the month was being handed two tickets to Journey/Def Leppard at 4 o clock the day of the concert.  I was able to cross one this off of my "Life-To-Do-List" that night- and I was pretty darn happy about it.  (Ok, so I don't have a life to do list- but if I did, seeing Journey live would be on it.)  Though we touched and went our separate ways, I am less stressed because of it!

4. Randomness is Key- It doesn't have to be a big spontaneous concert event- it can be something as simple as writing a nice email to someone important to you.  Or maybe you could spend some time recording new ringtones on your cell phone.  Or maybe you could look up funny words in a online sign language dictionary (ok..so I didn't do that...ok, yes I did.) Whatever your personal style, keep it random!!

3. Turn on that Tele- In the end, TV can be the worst procrastination tool, and procratination leads to stress. In my case, procrastination is inevitable- so what do I do? I turn on that tele!!  This year is no differrent from any other year- I have my schedule of programming and then some.  Some people are all about the Grey's or the Housewives nowadays- I'm still stuck on the reality.  Whether you agree with it or not, lets face it- Survivor is still amazing entertainment- As is Dancing with the Stars, Amazing Race etc.  So for goodness sakes- forget the stress of your life by tuning into other people's!!

2. LAUGH!- Don't forget to laugh. At yourself, at life, and at ridiculous circumstances.  This is coming from a girl who has repeatedly turned on the internet clip of the new Elmo and has laughed so hard that she is practically peeing her pants.  That little red guy gets me every time.  You should check it out.  I'm really thinking about going along with the 5-yr. old population and adding him to my Christmas list...oh wait- that price isn't in a college budget...forget it.

1. NAP- Ok, so I guess this really would be number one on my list.  Some people don't nap. They can't nap, even. I am not one of those people.  Instead, I can barely get through my day without one.  It's sad, but it's true.  It really don't do anything for my time management skills- but I'm too busy being snuggled up in my top bunk to care.  Whether or not you feel better or rejuvinated when you wake up, you can rest assure (get it) that all the stresses, frustrations and aggravations of the world will be laid to rest for 30, 50, 55, 60 minutes of your day.

Don't you already feel the weight of the world being lifted off your shoulders JUST from counting down with me?  You'll thank me later...especially when you go look up Elmo out of curiosity.

Thats it and thats all,
-Marta

Oh Marta. How could you ever forget learning the Charleston and getting your hair bobbed with me. If throwing it back old school 20s/30s style isn't stress reliever enough, we'll just have to make our way to Dave's office.
