Grants and Loans

Bridging the Gap

Capital offers need-based financial assistance to help families meet the cost of attending Capital minus their family contribution. Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) provides information necessary for determining the family contribution. The difference between the cost of attending Capital and the family financial contribution is considered financial need.

Grants

Grants are gift assistance that do not require repayment.

  • Capital Grant-in-Aid - need-based gift money for transfer students that comes from Capital University.

  • Cap Grant - gift money from Capital University.

Student Employment

  • Federal Work Study - on-campus employment opportunities partially funded through the federal government and awarded by the university.

Loans

  • Federal Stafford Loans
There are two types of Stafford Loans, unsubsidized and subsidized--which are based on financial need.

  • Federal Perkins Loans
Perkins Loans are given to students based on exceptional financial need.

  • Parent PLUS Loans
PLUS Loans are available to parents of undergraduate students and typically supplement Stafford Loans.

  • Nursing Loan
Nursing Loans are need-based loans available only to undergraduate nursing students.

Alternative loans are also available.  Read more about bridging the gap with alternative loans.
