Trombone Choir/Quartets

The Capital University Trombone Choir and Quartet, under the direction of Dr. Thomas W Zugger, are one of the showcase ensembles at the Capital University Conservatory of Music. The Trombone choir performs one concert each semester on campus and many events around Columbus and the mid-west. The group consists of trombone majors and minors and numbers between 12 and 15 each year. The repertoire consists of standard trombone choir repertoire, literature from state contest lists, and new compositions and arrangements by Capital University faculty and students. In recent years the choir has performed at: the 2001 International Trombone Association Festival in Nashville Tennessee, the 2004, 2006 and 2007 OMEA Conferences in Columbus and Cleveland OH, the 2007 IMEA Indiana Conference in Indianapolis IN, Ohio University, Ithaca College, Michigan State University, Bowling Green State University, and with such guest artists as Phil Wilson, John Fedchock, Ken Thompkins, Mark Hartman, and composer Eric Ewazen of the Julliard School. Members of the Trombone Studio participate in the Trombone choir and Quartet. Membership in both is open to both Music Majors and non-Music Majors. The Trombone choir meets each week on Tuesdays from 2-3:15pm. Contact Dr. Zugger if you are interested in joining the ensemble.
