Friday, April 17, 2009:
Capital University's Jazz and World Music Festival has more to offer than world-renowned musicians. The Jazz Ensemble Invitational brings together
- community ensembles
- elementary ensembles
- middle-school ensembles
- high-school ensembles
- collegiate ensembles; and
- professional ensembles
from within a five-state region to participate in clinics and performances.
To apply for the Jazz Ensemble Invitational:
Ensembles can apply for the invitational by filling out an online application, or by downloading the invitational application and returning it to:

- A JEN-sanctioned non-competitive event
- Limited performance slots with participants selected on a first-come, first served basis
- Expert adjudication team
- Your $175 ensemble participation fee includes:
- CD Recording of your performance
- Adjudication comments on CD by one adjudicator
- Individual clinic with one expert adjudicator immediately following your performance
- A 10 a.m. concert featuring the guest artist and adjudicators with the Capital University Big Band.
- Priority admission to various 11 a.m. clinics provided by visiting artists/adjudicators and Conservatory jazz faculty
- Jazz on the Green: lunch concert/picnic (weather permitting) including performances by Capital's ensembles. Lunch tickets are available for $7 each on a cash basis or by prior purchase (See application packet received from festival once you have enrolled)
- Outstanding band awards--no numerical ratings
- JEN Outstanding Musicianship Citations
- Scholarships (if available) awarded to various summer jazz camps
