Marching Band and Old Friends

I'm still working on that list...

It's harder than I thought it would be.

I mean, it's not that there aren't things I think incoming conservatory kids should know, it's that they all fall into about four things.  But I'm still working on it. And I will finish it by the end of the month! (How's that for a procrastinator's deadline.)

I'm really tired right now.

But, I just got back from an amazing night and I really wanted to write about it.

My high school's marching band had a contest in the greater Columbus area. So I went, and so did my best friend Holly, and all six of the band guys that graduated last year. ALL OF THEM! It was great. Holly made a cake! I haven't seen Matt since he went to school... that seems like forever ago... Alex since... Holly's graduation party... Kevin and Dan since I went home the first weekend of school, and Kirk... wow. I don't even know the last time I saw Kirk! I missed all of them soo much! I've seen Holly quite a few times since we left for school, and Charles goes to OSU so I've seen those two a few times since I've been here, but the other four, and the band kids! oooooh. the band kids!

I missed them A LOT. But it was weird, because, well,... I didn't know a lot of them. But the ones I did know! Oh, I missed them.

I mean, there's always that one guy that has to try to ruin everything... he knows who he is, and he knows he's really not awesome. He can't comprehend caring about something like band. I mean, he's in band, but he can't comprehend caring about it. It's just a thing his mom makes him do. It's not a passion. And to me, that's sad.

But anyways....

The show was amazing! I barely even recognized the band on the field. it was great. They were really good. I mean, I'm certainly not saying last year was absolutely incredible, becaus I think it was, but, well I'll be honest. I mean that the uniforms changed a lot. But I'm glad I finally got to see the contest show that's been winning so many awards all season! They really impressed me. Unfortunately they didn't win.

Central Crossing won. They were incredible though! Oh wow! Everything about their show! I especially loved the dancing at the begining and the flags at the end. I'm not a huge fan of digital music in general, and especially not in marching band shows... but I think I might go as far as to say that I liked this. We also ran into a friend of mine from here at Cap, Chelsea. She went to Central Crossing. So that was fun.

Ha ha ha. But let's not get me started on what I like and don't like in marching band shows!

After the contest we went out to dinner. Unfortunately Dan and Kevin couldn't come with us, but it was still great. Actually, it was amazing. I miss hanging out with them. We just have so many little inside jokes and we can be comfortable and happy and we just laugh and laugh and laugh. I can't wait until Thanksgiving break when I get to see all of them again.

::sigh:: I guess that's all for this.

I just wanted to tell you about my amazing night.

I'm going to bed now!

I will put that list up, as soon as I finish it.

Hi, Um I'd like to say wow and thanks. I'm in the Central Crossing Marching Band, and it means a lot for people to remember us. I'm a senior and I play flute. We are going to Nationals. We're leaving tomorrow. Anyways seeing that means a lot. More than you know. Thanks

I'm also in the CCHS marching band, and I am so happy that someone aside from the directors and usual viewers of our show remembered us, and I'd like to say thanks. I, like Melissa, play flute and am a senior. It's really great to hear someone say good things about our show, especially someone who probably has never seen us before. Thank you so much for writing about us!!!

Hi! my name is Laryssa and I'm considering going to Capital's conservatory for voice. I know you changed your major, but I read earlier in your blog that you were thinking about writing a list about things an incoming conservatory student would want to know. I was wondering if you could possibly tell me some of your thoughts on the Conservatory and what an incoming freshman should expect. Thanks for your time!
