Employee Perks
There are additional benefits that come from working in a university setting as well as working in a caring community. Below are some of the added benefits that are available to employees of the University, including special offers and discounts offered by many of the businesses around the University. To take advantage of these offers, identify yourself as a Capital University employee. You may also be required to show your Capital University ID card.
Athletic Events
Employees and their immediate family members (with a valid family member Capital ID) are encouraged to attend Capital’s sporting events throughout the year. There is no charge for regular-season games.
Bookstore Discount
Employees receive a 10 percent discount on clothing and novelty items at the bookstore on main campus (some exclusions may apply).
Capital Center and Athletic Facilities
The Capital Center is a 126,000-square-foot recreational and athletic complex that includes basketball courts, indoor/outdoor tracks, football field, extensive fitness center and much more. Employees and their immediate family members (with a valid Capital ID) are welcome to utilize The Capital Center and other athletic facilities located on campus, including the tennis courts, volleyball courts and soccer fields.
Mezz Fitness Center
Located on the 3rd floor of the Student Union (access by elevator), students, faculty and staff with a valid Capital ID can get in shape and stay fit using state-of-the-art equipment, such as:
- Cardio Theater - Offering a wide selection of exercise machines including treadmills, ellipticals, stationary and recumbent bikes, a rower and cross-fit lateral elliptical.
- Spin Room - Select from many courses and levels of challenge.
- Weight machines
- Kettlebells
- Synergy multi-function machine - Work out with bands, balls, stands, ropes and more to sculpt every muscle group. Scan the QR codes for exercise demonstrations and ideas.

Employees have access to the Blackmore, Hamma and Law School libraries. See the circulation desks to learn more about the services that each library offers.
Conference Services Discount
Employees receive a 25% discount off of room rentals for personal use.
Parking Privileges
Employees of Capital University qualify to receive one parking permit per year at no cost.

Schumacher Gallery
Located on the top floor of Blackmore Library, the art gallery includes a permanent collection of works from recognizable artists and special exhibitions throughout the year. There is no charge for admission and employees are encouraged to visit.
Theatre Productions and Music Conservatory Concerts
Faculty and staff are welcome to attend Capital’s theatre and musical events throughout the year for free with their university ID.
