The Student and Community Engagement Office is sponsoring a series of activities this week to raise awareness about AIDS. Festivities kicked off Monday with a screening of Rent, followed by a discussion, and continued Tuesday with a Protection Pledge drive, during which students signed condom wrappers to show their support for AIDS awareness and the importance of prevention.

On Wednesday, November 28, students will have the chance to demonstrate their fashion sense, design skills and creativity while bring attention to a worthy cause during Condom Couture from 9 to 11 pm in the Mezz, located in the Campus Center. Students will be challenged to design and make a wearable clothing item made from condoms, which will be provided at the event. After couture pieces are assembled, they'll be presented during a runway-style show and judged on their originality, functionality, visual appeal and design.

On Thursday, students can stop by the Mezz anytime between 10 am and 2 pm for a free, confidential AIDS test. These services will be provided by Columbus Public Health. Results and counseling services after testing will be provided in private meeting rooms located across from the Student and Community Engagement Office on the first floor of the Campus Center.

The week will conclude Friday with an Awareness Photo Shoot from 10 am to 2 pm in PO Lobby of the Campus Center. Stop by and have your picture taken with a sign showing your support for HIV/AIDS Awareness, and for those fighting the disease. You can even write a personal supportive message on the sign if you'd like to.
