Capital University is moving to the cloud to improve technology services, and the first thing you’ll notice is better student email.
Beginning this summer, Capital student email accounts will be managed through Microsoft Office 365, a cloud-based solution, rather than through a Capital server. The conversion will increase your mailbox from 80MB to 25GB, allow you to access your email from your smartphone or mobile device and allow you to use your @capital.edu email account as long as you like after graduation.
The product is fully supported and secured by Microsoft, and all of your webmail contacts will automatically be converted to the new tool the first time you log in. To make things easy, your email address, username and login information will remain the same.
The conversion will happen over the summer and be completed before classes start this fall. We’ll communicate with you to share more details closer the conversion. Afterward, the first time you access webmail.capital.edu, you’ll be redirected to a new link — https://outlook.com/capital.edu. This is how you’ll access your new mailbox so you should update your bookmark. Once you log in through that link all of your email, contacts, calendar functions, tasks, folders and login information will be carried over to the new system.
We’ve answered some frequently asked questions about the conversion and how you can access your new email account and configuring your mobile device. As always, our Help Desk operators are ready to provide additional help if you need it. Contact the IT Help Desk at 614-236-6508 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you need help with this or another technology matter.
