On August 7, Capital University will move to the cloud to improve technology services. The first thing you’ll notice is better student email.
Beginning this Wednesday, Capital student email accounts will be managed through Microsoft's Office 365, a cloud-based solution, rather than through a Capital server. The conversion will increase your mailbox from 80MB to 25GB, allow you to access your email from your smartphone or mobile device and allow you to use your @capital.edu email account as long as you like after graduation. Bexley campus student accounts will be converted August 7. Conversion for Law School student accounts will take place in the coming weeks.
The product is fully supported and secured by Microsoft, and all of your webmail contacts will automatically be converted to the new tool the first time you log in. To make things easy, your email address, username and login information will remain the same.
Here’s what you really need to know
Even though we’ll be moving nearly 5,000 email accounts during the day, each user should only experience a few minutes of downtime during the migration. Afterward, the first time you access webmail.capital.edu, you’ll be redirected to a new link — https://outlook.com/capital.edu. This is how you’ll access your new mailbox so you should update your bookmark. Once you log in through that link all of your email, contacts, calendar functions, tasks, folders and login information will be carried over to the new system.
Students who use a mobile device — smartphone or tablet — to access email will need to reconfigure their device(s). Find out how and get answers to frequently asked questions about the conversion and how you can access your new email account.
