Capital's School of Nursing offers a highly personalized, nationally accredited education for traditional undergraduates in our
nursing major, or health professionals who want to earn both a degree and the confidence that comes with a strong grasp of essential practical skills.
We are proud to announce our Nursing Accelerated Program. This new 20-month bachelor of science in nursing program is geared toward people who have a degree in another field, but want a career in nursing.
The Education You Want
The U.S. Department of Labor predicts that health care employment will grow 25 percent by 2010, and a Capital nursing education will position you to make the most of your job possibilities. Our innovative combination of practical education and extensive opportunities for hands-on experiences has made Capital's School of Nursing a standard-bearer throughout the state.
Nursing and the Liberal Arts
Your Capital degree will provide you with a clinical, technical and scientific foundation, but it will also take you farther. Our liberal arts education will give you a strong background in religion, psychology and human relations. And that will make you more well-rounded and add a competitive dimension to your résumé.
Practical Experience, Here and Abroad
But it's not just classroom learning that's important. At Capital we partner with more than 80 community health organizations — ranging from the Columbus Children's Hospital to Mount Carmel Medical Centers — so you can practice your skills in a real-time, supervised environment. We also give you the benefit of leading technology through our Helene Fuld Health Trust Learning Resources Laboratory. Undergraduate students can even study abroad during their senior year, thanks to our partnership programs in England and Sweden.
Essential Results
Capital's nursing graduates are some of the best-prepared in the area, with approximately 94 percent of our 2004 class passing the registered nurses licensure exam (NCLEX) on their first try.
Professional Education
Whether you are a practicing RN seeking to complete your BSN studies or a health professional seeking an MSN, Capital has a program customized to fit your needs. We even offer three dual-degree programs: in law, business and theological studies.
"When I transferred to Capital from a state university, I was surprised how helpful people were. It seems like every professor I've had at Capital knew my name by the first month of school."
