  • Merit Awards

    Capital rewards academic excellence with a number of merit-based scholarships.

    Collegiate Fellowship 

    Competitive full tuition scholarship made to entering first-year traditional undergraduate high school students based on an on-campus essay and group conversation. Applicants with at least a 28 ACT composite or a 1250 SAT verbal/math total by Dec. 1 are invited to compete. This tuition-based award is renewable if you are enrolled as a full-time student, your cumulative GPA is 3.00 or higher and live in the residence halls. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years).

    Capital Scholars Award 

    Competitive full tuition scholarship made to entering first-year traditional undergraduate high school students of color who identify themselves during the application process. Applicants with a 3.0 cumulative GPA and at least a 21 ACT composite or a 980 SAT verbal/math total by Dec. 1 are invited to compete. This tuition-based award is renewable if you are enrolled as a full-time student, your cumulative GPA is 2.50 or higher and live in the residence halls. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years).

    Brockman Fellowship 

    Competitive full tuition scholarship awarded to an entering first-year traditional undergraduate high school student who are majoring in mathematics or computer science and is based on an on-campus essay and group conversation at the Collegiate Fellowship competition. Applicants with at least a 28 ACT composite or a 1250 SAT verbal/math total by Dec. 1 are invited to compete. This tuition-based award is renewable if  you are enrolled as a full-time student, your cumulative GPA is 3.00 or higher and live in the residence halls. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years).

    Transfer Fellowship 

    Competitive full tuition scholarship made to entering transfer students (students seeking their first undergraduate degree) who have earned a minimum of 15 semester or 22 quarter hours of transferrable college course work after graduating from high school. Applicants who complete their file by May 1 and have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average from all colleges are invited to compete for this on campus interview and essay. This tuition-based award is renewable if you are enrolled as a full-time student, your cumulative GPA is 3.00 or higher and you live in the campus housing. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years).

    Presidential Scholarship for first-year students 

    Renewable award given to incoming first-year students (on the basis of outstanding high school records and ACT/SAT results). This tuition-based award is applied to a maximum of eight semesters (fall and spring only) so long as you are continuously enrolled as a full-time student. Renewal of this scholarship also requires that you maintain a 2.0 or higher cumulative grade point average at Capital. Music students are not eligible for this award.

    Presidential Scholarship for transfer students  

    Renewable award given to transfer students (on the basis of collegiate academic performance and campus residency) seeking their first undergraduate degree. If your residency changes, your scholarship will be adjusted. This tuition-based award is applied to a maximum of eight semesters (fall and spring only) so long as you are continuously enrolled as a full-time student. Renewal of this scholarship also requires that you maintain a 2.0 or higher cumulative grade point average at Capital. Music students are not eligible for this award.

    Transfer Phi Theta Kappa Grant 

    Renewable grant awarded to transfer students seeking their first undergraduate degree who are current members of Phi Theta Kappa. Students must be a full-time undergraduate traditional student who has completed a minimum of 15 semester or 22 quarter hours of transferrable college credit that was completed after graduating from high school. Students should identify themselves as a Phi Theta Kappa member on the admission application or should notify the Admission Office.

    Capital Grant 

    The Capital Grant Award affirms Capital’s interest and investment in the many dimensions of the student and the value that each student brings to our campus community and educational experience. This tuition-based award is renewable if you are enrolled as a full-time traditional undergraduate student, your cumulative GPA is 2.0 or higher and you maintain your enrollment, intended academic plan and housing status. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years). This award may be reevaluated for possible adjustment or replaced with a Capital endowed scholarship. In addition, eligibility is limited to traditional undergraduate students who were enrolled at Capital after May 1, 2007. 

    Rev. Rufus Tarrant Grant 

    Award given to eligible students of color who identify themselves on the admission application. This tuition-based award may be renewed if you are enrolled as a full-time student, and your cumulative GPA is 2.00 or higher. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years) to students seeking their first undergraduate degree.
