    1. How much will it cost to attend Capital?
Nearly 100 percent of our students receive some form of financial assistance. Last year the average merit award was $14,500. To see the cost before you get a financial aid award, please refer to our tuition and fees.

    2. When can I register for classes?
You need to turn in an admission deposit before you are allowed to register for class. First-year students typically register for class in June on our campus.

    3. How do I join the Honors Program?
Capital's Honors Program is open to students in all academic disciplines who have an ACT composite score of at least 28 (or an SAT score of 1250 from the critical reading and math scores), or have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher while a full-time student at Capital. Entry to the program also requires the permission of the director of the Honors Program.

    5. Can I have a car on campus?
First year students and Sophomores who live on campus are only permitted to park in the O lot, and are not permitted in any main campus parking lot before 4:30 p.m. O lot spaces are limited and permits are issued to resident students on a first come first serve basis. When the O lot is full, students applying for permits will be placed on a waiting list. Permits must be purchased online and a copy of the receipt must be presented at the Public Safety Office to obtain your permit.

The University provides shuttle service to the Capital University Apartments and the O lot. During Fall/Spring semesters when school is in session, the shuttle leaves main campus at the top and bottom of every hour Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. There is also a Sunday shuttle from the O lot back to main campus. The Sunday shuttle parks in the O lot and returns students to main campus. The Sunday shuttle hours are 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

    6. What classes are required?
Capital offers a liberal arts curriculum that is required for all majors. The program is designed around five central themes: Intellectual Skills, Living in the Contemporary World, Modes of Inquiry, Interpreting Texts and Images, and Ethical Thought.

The curriculum is developed and extends throughout the college experience. Specific information about each of these goals can be found in the university bulletin. Information about requirements for more than 60 different majors can be found on our majors and minors page.

    7. How do I change my major after being accepted?
You should call and talk with your admission counselor about the majors you are considering. For most majors, you can just notify us prior to registering for classes and we can match you up with the appropriate faculty adviser. Some majors have specific admission requirements that are different from the general admission requirements. Your admission counselor will be able to tell you if you meet the criteria for the program in which you are interested.

    8. Is tutoring available?
If you need additional assistance in one of your classes, the first place to start is with your professor. Most have regular office hours and are more than willing to help you if you are struggling with the subject matter. The Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching offers extensive support services including peer tutoring which is free for Capital students.
