Cap Family and friends, come and cheer on Capital University Men's Basketball as the team hosts Wilmington at 7:30 pm Saturday, February 25, at The Capital Center in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament championship game.
The winner of tonight's game receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament, which begins later next week.
The second-seeded Crusaders (17-9) clinched their berth in the championship game Thursday night with a gritty 66-61 victory over No. 6 seed Ohio Northern in the semifinals. Junior Spencer Niekamp (St. Henry, Ohio) led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Kelly Winter (Dublin, Ohio) played the role of closer with 15 second-half points for a total of 19.
The Crusaders last appeared in the conference tournament title game in 2009, when they were defeated at John Carroll 90-87. Capital has won three tournament championships in its history, with the most recent in 2007.
