Capital University's Department of Nursing and the Drexel Theatre will present the latest iteration of Science and the Cinema at 6 pm Thursday, January 17, with a showing of Steven Soderbergh's 2011 film
Contagion, followed by a discussion and question-and-answer session about emergency response and preparedness.
Contagion, starring an ensemble cast that includes Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Laurence Fishburne and Marion Cotillard, is a thriller about the global outbreak of a deadly disease and an international team of doctors trying to contain it.
Following the film, Michael J. Fielding, director of Columbus Public Health's Center for Epidemiology, Preparedness and Response and chief of emergency preparedness, will lead a 30-minute discussion about the movie and emergency preparedness.
