Capital University's Safety Bulletin recently was updated with information about a safety notice issued by Ohio State University Police regarding a possible threat to its Columbus campus.

Ohio State University Police issued the following notice to its community members regarding a possible safety threat. Because of Capital University's proximity to OSU and the likelihood that some in our community have occasion to be on the OSU campus we wanted to share this with you.

Please be assured we are not aware of any related threats to our campus. This advisory is specific to the Ohio State University. As always, if you have information or concerns about a safety matter, please call Capital's Public Safety Department at 236-6666.

You are receiving this notice because a crime has occurred that is considered to be of a concern and/or a continuing threat to the campus community and to heighten your safety awareness.

The purpose of this notice is to provide community members with information necessary to take appropriate precautions, enable you to protect yourself and to aid in the prevention of similar crimes.

Unless specifically stated, this notice does not mean there has been an increase in crime or that any specific crime pattern exists.

The following crime ocurred on campus:
The Ohio State University Police Division has information, originating from a chat site, that referenced a potential threat of shooting or explosive violence focused on a 'cafeteria' or other unspecified area of campus on Monday (04/08/2013) on The Ohio State University Columbus campus. We are taking this information seriously and continue to aggressively investigate. We will have extra police and security presence on and around campus dining facilities. We have the assistance of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. This information is being sent so that the university community is aware and to ask assistance in reporting any suspicious persons, behavior or packages today or in the future. We take this opportunity to remind everyone: If you See Something, Say Something -- dial 9-1-1 in an emergency or 292-2121 to reach the Police Division's non-emergency line. At this point, we do not know if this new information is related to the threat received last week. Updates will be posted on:
