Soccer, Volleyball Teams Set to Begin Regular Seasons This Weekend

A full slate of games this weekend will welcome a new campaign for three of Capital University's fall sports teams.
Play begins on Friday evening with the Capital-Otterbein Volleyball Opener. The Crusaders are set to face Defiance at 5 pm, followed by Albion (Mich.) at 7:30 pm.
Capital then returns to the court for another pair of matches Saturday, when they play Trine (Ind.) at 9:30 am, followed by Rose-Hulman (Ind.) at noon.
Both matches for the Crusaders will be at The Capital Center.
The cross-town tournament runs Friday and Saturday in The Capital Center and the Rike Center located on the campus of Otterbein University. Live statistics and directions to both sites can be found on the Capital University athletics Web site.
Two other Capital squads also will open play this weekend, as the men's and women's soccer teams are set to face non-conference opponents to open the 2013 regular season.
The women's soccer team will take the field first in a road matchup against Carnegie Mellon (Pa.), in the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament on Saturday at 2:30 pm.
The Crusaders then wrap up their opening weekend when they face Penn St.-Behrend Sunday at noon. Live stats for each game can be followed on the Capital University athletics Web site.
The men's soccer team takes to Bernlohr Stadium Sunday, when it plays host to Wittenberg at 3:30 pm.
This will be the first match of the season for second-year head coach Alan Yost, who served as interim head coach a season ago. Live stats and video for this match can be followed on the Capital University athletics Web site.
