From Carnegie Hall and the Chicago Opera House to school music halls in South Africa, the Capital University Chapel Choir¹s longstanding touring tradition has taken more than a collection of beautiful voices across the world.
Capital University’s Chapel Choir struck a chord with the world recently when it made its first appearance at the World Choir Games competition and walked away with two gold medals, the highest composite score of any American choir that competed, and the bitter-sweet pride of being just 1.3 points shy of winning the Mixed Choir Championship.

We have taken powerful messages of joy, hope, and positive social change to thousands of different people and places. And from the stories we continue to hear from people touched by the choir¹s performances, we know our impact infinitely resounds. This select mixed ensemble is the Conservatory's most advanced choir and is recognized as one of the outstanding college choral groups in the nation. The choir performs a variety of sacred and secular choral literature, including motets, choral/orchestral works, spirituals, gospel music, carols, traditional music, and selections for women’s chorus and men’s chorus as well as music from Eastern Europe, Africa, Japan and from Latin and South America.

Here's where else the Chapel Choir has been so far during the 2011-2012 academic year:
In May 2011, the Chapel Choir had an opportunity like no other: to travel to South Africa to perform in breathtakingly beautiful surroundings and diverse concert settings‹from traditional venues like churches, universities, and concert halls, to some not-so-traditional locations like an AIDS hospice site, a homeless shelter, a mountain cable car, and an airplane. Learn more about the experience at the Chapel Choir South Africa Tour Blog.
We'll share more information soon. But for now, visit the World Choir Games website for concert times and other details, or download the celebration concert schedule (PDF).
