The Department of Communication gives out the following awards for outstanding student achievement:
A recipient of one of these awards receives a small monetary award and is recognized at Capital's annual Undergraduate Honors Convocation. The Department of Communication also gives out another monetary award: The Steve Esposito Professional Development Award. This award provides financial assistance to full-time students in the Department of Communication to enhance their professional development. Recent award winners
The Department of Communication hosts three national honor societies: Lambda Pi Eta, Delta Sigma Rho - Tau Kappa Alpha, and Alpha Psi Omega.
According to the standards set forth by the National LPH organization, to be eligible for membership, students must have completed 60 semester hours in undergraduate credit courses; have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0; have completed the equivalent of 12 semester hours in courses in the department of communication; have a grade point average of at least 3.25 in these courses; be in the upper 35% of their graduating class; and be currently enrolled as a full-time student in good standing with their institution. At Capital, we have increased the requirements to include: a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5; a communication course GPA of at least 3.5; and a vote of approval by communication faculty.Recent Lambda Pi Eta inductees
To be eligible for induction into Capital's chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, a student needs to participate in theatre for at least two semesters and have been approved by current members.
