Calculating Your GPA
The grade point average is determined by dividing the total number of quality points by the total hours attempted. (Attempted hours = all courses taken on a letter-graded basis at Capital). Grade point averages are used to determine academic status.
EXAMPLE:
Courses are 3 credits each.
A 4.0
B- 2.67
B 3.0
A- 3.67
C 2.0
A 4.0
Take the quality points and multiply by the credit hours of the course, then add all together to get the quality points.
4 x 3 =12
2.67 x 3 = 8.01
3 x 3 =9
3.67 x 3 = 11.01
2 x3 =6
4 x 3 =12
Total Quality Points = 58.02
Total Attempted Hours = 18
Quality Points/ Attempted Hours = GPA
58.02/18 = 3.223
