  • Bridging the Gap: Loans

Capital offers need-based financial assistance to help families meet the cost of attending Capital minus their family contribution. Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) provides information necessary for determining the family contribution. The difference between the cost of attending Capital and the family financial contribution is considered financial need.

    Types of Loans

    • Federal Direct Loans for students
There are two types of Direct Loans--unsubsidized (non-need-based) and subsidized (need-based).
    • Federal Perkins Loans
Perkins Loans are given to students based on exceptional financial need.
    • Federal Direct PLUS Loans for parents
PLUS Loans are available to parents of undergraduate students and typically supplement Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized student loans.
    • Nursing Loan
Nursing Loans are need-based loans available only to undergraduate nursing students.

Alternative loans are also available. Read more about bridging the gap with alternative loans.
