    Admission Requirements

    Professional Experience

Our MBA program is for working professionals, in part because we believe the workplace is an essential resource for understanding and applying the ideas learned in the classroom. As such, the admission committee expects a minimum of two years of professional work experience. The work experience can be in any environment, but should demonstrate managerial and professional capabilities. Teaching, health care and military service are all considered professional work experience. On average, a Capital MBA student has seven to eight years of work experience. International students do not need to be employed while attending the Capital MBA.

    GMAT Performance

We require applicants to submit current GMAT exam scores (taken within five years) as part of the admission process. The GMAT score is used to help evaluate a candidate’s ability to succeed in the classroom. Our MBA program requires students to perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis, and the GMAT exam indicates your proficiency in both areas. (Candidates who have a Ph.D. or an M.D. are exempt from this requirement.)

Please note: If you have already taken the GRE (within the past five years), please contact us before you take the GMAT.

Exceptional candidates may be eligible for a GMAT waiver, subject to review by and at the discretion of the admissions committee. If you meet all of the following minimum requirements, you may request a GMAT waiver review by the admissions committee:

    • An undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.
    • A minimum of 4 years of professional, post-baccalaureate work experience OR an earned Master's, Ph.D., or Professional Degree from a program that required a standardized exam (GRE, LSAT, MCAT, etc.) for admission.
    • You have not previously submitted a GMAT score to the Capital MBA program.
    • All MBA application materials except for the GMAT score must be submitted with the Waiver Request prior to the posted application deadline for the desired start time.

Your Waiver Request should be addressed to the admissions Committee and take the form of a written personal statement describing why you believe that your academic and professional experiences merit receipt of a GMAT waiver, and what you will contribute to the learning community of the Capital MBA.

    Undergraduate Experience

We believe you’re more than your GPA. So, in addition to grades, the admission committee carefully considers other factors, like major chosen, reputation of the institution, performance after an initial adjustment to college life, and specific performance in different subjects. We attempt to gather a full picture of your capabilities as a student, as opposed to just a number on a transcript.

    References

We require a minimum of two professional references, which should help the admission committee determine both your capabilities and ambition. References from employers (current or former) are particularly encouraged.

Please have your references fill out the Reference Form (PDF) and attach a recommendation letter to support your candidacy for the Capital MBA program.

    International Applicants

International applicants must demonstrate English proficiency by meeting the university's TOEFL or IELTS requirements
